WILLARD -- The State Bureau of Investigation is heading the investigation into an officer-related shooting that left one man dead on Interstate 15, Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Lawrence Hopper said Saturday.
UHP is not releasing the name of the man, which agency was involved in the shooting and how many police agencies were involved at this time, Hopper said.
A vehicle with only a male driver traveling in excess of 100 miles per hour was spotted traveling northbound in Davis County at 10:15 p.m. Friday, he said.
Officers tried to get in a position to stop the vehicle but at mile marker 357 near the Willard exit, the vehicle crashed. An incident occurred between the driver and the officers. A Taser was deployed, Lawrence said, but the man was then shot.
Following the incident, I-15 northbound was closed, with traffic being diverted onto U.S. 89 at Exit 351.
