OGDEN -- A 27-year-old man was arrested after leading police on a chase that included dragging a police officer outside a car.
Police Lt. Will Cragun said officers pulled over the man and a 20-year-old female passenger in a Honda Civic near 9th Street and Liberty Avenue around 8 p.m. for a suspended license and a misdemeanor warrant. When police asked the man to get out of the car, he drove off, dragging for a short distance an officer whose shirt sleeve was caught in the car door.
A high-speed chase ensued, during which the man hit two cars and took out a street sign at 12th Street and Lincoln Avenue. The man then fled on foot and was apprehended about a block away. He resisted arrest and police used Tasers to subdue him.
The man was found to be in possession of illegal narcotics, Cragun said. He will likely face multiple charges. The woman was not arrested.
Cragun said the officer dragged by the car suffered minor injuries and received on-scene treatment.
