KAYSVILLE -- The Davis High pitching staff is off to a solid start this season.
So are the Darts at the plate.
Davis recorded just five hits on Monday, but made each pay off in a 6-3 victory over Bountiful in non-league baseball action.
The game had plenty of highlights, including a storm delay with lightning in the area.
Davis scored a pair of runs early on, then turned a 2-1 game into a 6-1 bulge with four runs in the fifth inning. Catcher Bronson Larsen started the inning with a solo homer, then the Darts used a pair of walks and a couple of singles to add three more runs.
Conner Blaisdell had two hits and three RBIs for Davis.
Meanwhile Gage Cook and two relievers kept Bountiful in check for the win. Davis improved to 9-1 on the season.
Zach Muir took the loss for the Braves. Ryan Curtis rapped a tripled for Bountiful.
Saturday, the Darts claimed the Vivint Orem Classic title with a 11-5 victory over Wasatch at Utah Valley University. Tyler Hall struck out 10 batters to pick up the win, while Jackson Peacock homered and was named game MVP with a five-RBI effort.
* BONNEVILLE 7, NORTHRIDGE 4: At Layton, Dakota Buckway held the Knights to five hits and Bryson Longman and Wil Heward provided the key hits in the Lakers' victory.
