Before you butter your roll or dive into that slice of chocolate cake, make sure you know your fat facts.

There are a lot of fats out there to choose from these days. Some are good; others are linked to chronic health problems.

So, what is the latest research on the topic? We asked the experts to clear up the confusion.

•  Saturated fats

Saturated fats, found in ice cream, cake, butter, full-fat cheese and meats, are still considered bad for you, said Davis Hospital and Medical Center clinical dietitian Cole Sanderson. Saturated fats are generally solid at room temperature.
