Orson Bodily of Roy will celebrate his 80th birthday on April 6.
The seventh son of 11 children, he was born on April 6, 1933, in Fairview, Idaho, at the home of his parents George Clarence Bodily and Florence Lois Orchard Bodily.
He was raised on an 80-acre farm, where he remembers not having indoor plumbing until he was a teenager. Some of his early memories include playing music on an old RCA Victor windup record player, riding his horse Peanuts, and hunting and fishing in the mountains and streams of Idaho. He also enjoyed playing sports and listening to country western music.
He served in the Army during the Korean War, where he was stationed in Germany and traveled extensively throughout Europe.
He married Marlene Pack on May 27, 1955, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple. They raised three daughters and enjoyed taking camping trips and vacations throughout the West, creating great memories for their family.
He worked at Hill Air Force Base until he retired in 1987.
His interests include his family, working in his yard, sports, and coin and stamp collecting.
Their children and spouses are Terri and Deon McFarland, West Weber; SueAnn and Steve Jones, West Jordan; and Janis and Kevin McGill, Huntsville. They have 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren with one on the way.
