Preston Fowers of Hooper will celebrate his 80th birthday on Saturday, April 6. Friends and family are welcome to attend an open house in his honor from 4 to 6 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Hooper church house, 5601 S. 6100 West. He will be also honored at a family dinner at the Timbermine Restaurant & Steak House on April 5.
He was born on April 3, 1933, son of David John and Lucinda Fowers. He married Erma Aeschlimann on May 3, 1957. Their vows were solemnizedin the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Sept. 21, 1971.
A lifelong resident of Hooper, he also graduated from Weber High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He attended Weber State College and retired from Hill Air Force Base.
As a member of Lakeside Riders and Utah State Riding Association, he won many trophies. He enjoys horses, gardening and being with his grandchildren.
His children and their spouses are JanaLee and Brad Thurston of Hooper, Paul and Donna Fowers of Roy, Kathy and Ray (deceased) of Hooper, and Lisa Ann Fowers (deceased). They have eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
