SALT LAKE CITY -- A Salt Lake City judge is being placed on administrative leave following her arrest on suspicion of possessing synthetic narcotics.
The Deseret News reports that Justice Court Judge Virginia Bauskett Ward was arrested Saturday night by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
She was booked and released from Salt Lake County jail.
Utah's chief justice, Matthew Durrant, issued a statement Monday saying the 45-year-old judge was being placed on administrative leave with pay.
DEA officials didn't immediately return a call Monday from The Associated Press. A phone listing for Ward couldn't' be found. Online court records showed no information about the case. It wasn't clear what charges Ward faces.
