OGDEN -- A 29-year-old man has been found guilty of homicide in connection with the June 2011 car crash that killed his girlfriend.
The Deseret News reports that a jury in 2nd District Court found Shawn Brady guilty of misdemeanor negligent homicide. That's a step down from the second-degree felony charge he originally faced.
Court documents show Brady and 22-year-old Nicole Gear were travelling at about 100 mph before Brady's Pontiac Grand Am veered into oncoming traffic in Roy.
Brady overcorrected and lost control of the car near 3100 West in Roy. The couple then crashed into a power pole, a chain-link fence, a parked pick-up truck and a boat. They went to the hospital, where Gear died.
Brady is set to be sentenced May 24.
