I'm writing regarding Sen. Orrin Hatch, Sen. Mike Lee, Rep. Rob Bishop, Rep. Chris Stewart, Rep. Jason Chaffetz and Rep. Jim Matheson. We have extreme disappointment, and yes, distaste in what is happening in Washington, D.C. What has happened to this great country of ours? Why Congress can't solve its problems and let this country get back to what it once was is beyond me. The Catholic cardinals elected a pope in two days for heaven's sake!
My husband is 91 and I am 74 and in very poor health. We live on Social Security alone, and Medicare. It is extremely difficult to say the least. My children help when they can, but now the federal government is going to 'furlough' government workers so the budget gets fixed. Why put the burden of fixing things on the workers? It's not their fault Congress can't decide which way to put their pants on. Do they even realize what a huge cut in wages means for a family trying to make it in today's economy?
I often wonder if politicians have forgotten who votes for them----not the people in Egypt, nor any of the other place where embarrassingly large amounts of money has gone. We the people of the United States voted for them. Do they remember? Why don't they put some of that money towards fixing the United States? Help us out. That is why we voted them into office, again and again.
I realize this letter will be meaningless to the politicians, but I simply had to get my thoughts off my chest. We are struggling out there in the grassroots of the country and we desperately need help.
