SALT LAKE CITY -- A Utah jury found a 29-year-old man guilty of murder and obstructing justice in the shooting death of his ex-wife's boyfriend in Kearns.Jurors deliberated for more than six hours before returning their verdict Thursday against Joshua James Montoya.
They rejected Montoya's claim that the he shot 25-year-old Amos Pacheco by accident in March 2010 during a struggle for a gun.
Authorities say the shooting happened after Pacheco and Montoya's ex-wife dropped off her three children for a visit at Montoya's home.
KSL-TV reports that prosecutor Chou Chou Collins reminded jurors that Pacheco was sitting in the passenger seat of an SUV when he was shot and killed.
Collins says that wasn't self-defense, it was intentional.
Montoya is due for sentencing June 14 by 3rd District Judge Deno Himonas.
