CLINTON -- Shoppers at a Walmart in Clinton were surprised to see a naked man outside of the store late Saturday night.

Officers were called to Walmart at 1632 N. 2000 West around 11 p.m. on a report of a naked man threatening suicide outside of the store's south doors, said Clinton Police Sgt. Todd Kelly. The man did not have a weapon.

The man, who was seen by several Walmart customers, removed his shirt inside the store, took off his pants near the entrance and the rest of his clothes outside of the store, said Kelly.

An off-duty policeman spotted the naked 23-year-old from Clearfield, running toward 2000 West and detained him, said Kelly.

Clinton officers covered the man with a blanket and took him into custody. The man, whose name was not released, talked to police about religion, Kelly said.

The man was taken by ambulance to Davis Hospital and Medical Center for observation. He was cited for gross lewdness and disorderly conduct.
