J. Val and Karen C. Jensen of Ogden will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. An open house will be held in their honor from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, in the Viking Villa Clubhouse, 433 E. 980 North, Ogden. No gifts.
They were married on April 12, 1963, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Manti Temple.
He was born to Murlin and Helen Jensen on Oct. 29, 1943 in Moore, Idaho. He graduated from Jordan High School, worked at Kennecott Utah Copper and was also a brick mason. He attended the police academy and worked for the Utah Highway Patrol, retiring as a sergeant after 31 years. He spends his free time painting, gardening, bird watching and spoiling his dogs.
She was born May 29, 1946, to Gilbert and Margaret Clements in Ogden. She attended Jordan and Hillcrest high schools. She remained at home with her family until later in life and worked at various jobs. She is a scrapbook designer and uses her creativity to put together many things. She is an active member of the LDS Church, holding numerous callings throughout the years.
Their children and their spouses are Andrea Vandehei and Scott Rael, Todd and Susan Jensen, Janelle and (Shaun deceased) Speer, and Aaron and Jenny Jensen.
They have 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
