SALT LAKE CITY -- The University of Utah will offer a master's degree in a fast-growing field: video game design.
The Utah Board of Regents on Friday approved the creation of a university master's program in entertainment arts and engineering.
It will operate as an interdisciplinary program between the university's fine arts and engineering colleges.
The Deseret News reports regents' action came three years after the university's video game program for graduate students was created as an experimental program.
The program is the first of its kind in Utah and has gained national recognition.
University officials say while the program may sound like fun and games, the industry offers starting salaries between $70,000 and $100,000.
