SYRACUSE -- Sherrie Christensen has been appointed as the city’s newest community and economic development director.
The city council voted unanimously Tuesday to appoint Christensen to the position, replacing Michael Eggett who resigned to take a new job with Riverdale.
Christensen takes the position after working for the city for only nine months. However, she worked as planning and development services director for Morgan County for four years.
City officials across the board praised both Eggett and Christensen for the direction the city department is taking.
Mayor Jamie Nagle said Eggett did a lot for the community, but said she is also excited about Christensen’s opportunity. “You’ve been a delight to work with,” she told the new economic development director.
“She’s in a very good place and is very qualified and competent,” City Manager Bob Rice said of Christensen.
