SOUTH SALT LAKE -- A 54-year-old Salt Lake City man who was run over by a heavy service truck he was working on has succumbed to his injuries.
South Salt Lake Police Sgt. Gary Keller identified the man in the Wednesday accident as Jerome "Jerry" Abele.
Police say Abele had been working under the hood of a large service truck in a Union Pacific railroad yard when the truck rolled forward and ran him over. He was taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition, and died later that night.
Keller says a trust fund has been set up for Abele's 3-year-old and 5-year-old children.
