Dee Layton and Marian Clarke Schenck of Taylor will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at an open house with family and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on April 19 at the Taylor Ward meetinghouse, 2200 S. 4300 West, Ogden. No gifts.
They were married April 19, 1963, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple. Both were raised in the Ogden area.
He is a graduate of Davis High School and received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Weber State College. She graduated from Weber High School and attended Weber College for a year. She was able to be a stay-at-home mom.
He worked his way through college at the Clearfield Post Office as a mail carrier. He started working at Weber State Bookstore in 1962 and became manager in 1970. He enjoyed his profession and retired in 2000. He has been an integral part of the activities at the Dee Events Center, where he enjoys many friendships.
Active members of the LDS Church, their capacities include the sports program, four bishoprics, high counselor and senior member for three years, stake Young Women's presidency, ward Primary presidency and ward Relief Society president.
Their children and spouses are Todd and Julie Schenck, Trevor and Jodi Schenck, Heather and Joe Humphreys, Tyler and Kelli Schenck, Krystal and Jed Davis, Summer and BJ Hogge, Harmony and Jared Heath, Traig and Ashley Schenck, Melody and Adam Stuart, and Taylor Schenck. They have 34 grandchildren.
They enjoy camping with their family and supporting their grandchildrens' activities.
