Leland Ross Erickson of North Ogden celebrated his 80th birthday with his family at Maddox Ranch House Restaurant on April 11. Born April 11, 1933, to Arnold and Viola Erickson in Fish Haven, Idaho, he attended school there and graduated from Ogden High School in 1951. He also graduated from Weber College and served in the Navy Reserve for eight years. He spent 1954 and 1955 at Guam Naval Air Station during the Korean War. He later graduated from Brigham Young University and the Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington. After graduation, he worked at the Bank of Utah for four years, First Security Bank and was office manager at Hill Air Force Base, North Ogden and Ogden main office, retiring as vice president from the commercial lending department after 39 years.
He served as president of the North Ogden Kiwanis Club and was a member of the Ogden Lions Club. He also served for 12 years on the North Ogden City Council.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in the high council, as ward and stake clerk, bishop and with his wife as missionaries for the LDS Employment Service.
He married the former Renee Heiner in 1956 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. His children and spouses are L. Todd and Annette Erickson, Kelly and Gary Raught, Teal and Mathew Wardle, and Amber and David Lerohl. He has 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
His hobbies are playing golf, fishing, traveling and spending time with family at Bear Lake in the cabin he helped build.
