SALT LAKE CITY -- A former Utah teacher convicted of sexually abusing two of his 16-year-old female students has been sentenced to up to 20 years in prison.
Police say 28-year-old Broch Clyde DeGraff of Pleasant Grove was teaching and coaching soccer at Liahona Preparatory Academy when he had sexual encounters with the girls in 2011 and 2012 at the school and at his home.
DeGraff was fired from his job in August. He pleaded guilty in February to six counts of attempted forcible sexual abuse in a plea deal dropping three additional counts.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports that DeGraff tearfully apologized to his victims during Tuesday's sentencing hearing before 4th District Judge Fred Howard. He's the son of the Liahona prep school's founders, Brent and Kolleen DeGraff.
