OGDEN — Anyone who has a child’s car seat that is no longer usable is invited to bring it to the Safe Kids Day Fair, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Weber County Fairgrounds Golden Spike Event Center, 1000 N. 1200 West.

Jaden Burnett, who is collecting old and expired car seats for his Eagle Scout project, will have a booth at the fair, where seats can be dropped off.

According to a news release from Burnett, after five or six years, plastics become brittle like glass, which could cause a car seat to actually be dangerous to a child in an accident.

Currently, landfills are getting filled up with car seats that can be recycled, Burnett said.

The collected seats will be taken to Urecycle in Salt Lake City where they will all be recycled.

The Safe Kids Day Fair is free family event offering information and family activities.
