ROY -- The Roy High Royals capped the first half of the Region 5 boys soccer season with an impressive 9-1 victory over Box Elder on Friday afternoon at home.

"We had some fantastic goals. We have been looking good, and it's great to get to use the whole squad in this one," Roy coach Glenn Puckrin said.

Brock Charlesworth had four goals and a pair of assists, while Noah Jorgensen added a pair of goals as the Royals built a 4-0 halftime edge.

Trase Stapley had a goal and an assist, while Chase Dupaix and Giovanny Vazquez each had goals to round out the scoring.

Roy is now 5-0-0 in league play, 7-2-0 overall. Logan has one loss in the region standings, with everyone else sitting on at least two wins.

"Next week will be a big week for us with Bonneville on their field, and Logan," Puckrin said. "If we can get through next week in good shape, I will feel good."

Jorgensen's final goal, the ninth of the match on a feed from Charlesworth, "was a thing of beauty," Puckrin said.

Even giving up a late goal -- the first time a Region 5 team has scored on the Royals -- did little to dent the excitement.

"Our defense has been solid, led by keeper Kaden Brinkerhoff," Puckrin said. "Kaden is a good lad, and our guys really rely on his calm demeanor during the game."

* BONNEVILLE 4, SKY VIEW 1: At Smithfield, the wind held the Lakers at bay in the first half, but Bonneville unleashed its offensive attack after the break to rout the host Bobcats.

"We were playing into a pretty stiff breeze," Bonneville coach Mike Hickman said. "It was 1-1 at the half, but we came out and scored, and things just really connected from there."

Landon Summers scored for the Lakers in the second half, while Chandler Baddley added a goal and an assist, and Braxton Doutre and Geovanny Cuellar added second half scores. Sorie Morah and Bailey Proulx added assists.

Hickman said Tanner Scheffler was a major force in the midfield, destroying any Sky View hope of a comeback.

In the other Region 5 game, Logan edged Mountain Crest 1-0 on the road. Kayd Marquez scored the second-half goal. Sean Lyne posted the shutout.

Region 6

* CYPRUS 2, CLEARFIELD 1: At Magna, the Falcons suffered another close loss as host Cyprus scored a pair after the break.

Ivan Pechetto scored for Clearfield.

In another Region 6 game, Bountiful worked over Woods Cross 5-0. Kaleb Maynard led the way with a hat trick.

Region 11

* BEAR RIVER 3, BEN LOMOND 2 (2OT): At Garland, the Bears won a key battle for second place on the strength of Ray Nelson's goal.

Tanner Anderson had two first-half goals for Bear River.

2-A North

* LAYTON CHRISTIAN 7, INTERMOUNTAIN CHRISTIAN 0: At Sandy, the Eagles kept up the high-scoring act, as Jack Chandler tallied a hat trick and Ricardo Gomez had two goals. Hunter Nyilinanzi and Shadadi Musemakeli added goals. Berke Kalemotou had the shutout.
