GUNNISON -- Authorities say the death of an inmate at the Central Utah Correctional Facility in Gunnison appears suspicious.
Utah Department of Corrections spokesman Steve Gehrke says the 62-year-old inmate was found dead in his cell Saturday morning.
The inmate, whose name wasn't immediately released, was serving time for drug distribution and theft convictions.
Corrections department investigators are assisting local law enforcement authorities as they examine circumstances surrounding the death.
The medical examiner will perform an autopsy to pinpoint the cause of death.
