John P. and Penny P. Sorenson of Clinton will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on April 26. Family and friends may attend an open house in their honor from 6 to 8 p.m. that evening at Country Pines Retirement Community, 1706 W. 1800 North, Clinton.
High school sweethearts, both are graduates of Weber High School. Their were married on April 26, 1963, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple. Their children are Lori Ann Cadill, Las Vegas; Margaret Hansen, Roy; Kristin Spencer, West Point; John E. and Diane C. Sorenson, Uinta; Michael P. and Diane R. Sorenson, West Point; Matthew B. and Neely Sorenson, Syracuse; Kelly and Clay Carter, Morgan; Kathy and Daniel I. Winger, Syracuse; and Kimberly and Carlos Ornelas, Ogden.
He retired from Morton-Thiokol as maintenance supervisor and senior facility engineer in 1990. He served in the Utah State Fair Board and helped his wife operate Sorenson Food Service until 2000 after being a stay-at-home mom for 20 years. Many years were spent in a variety of occupations: painter, contractor, surgical assistant, clinical coordinator, electrical supervisor for Holiday Inn, Page, Ariz.; and electrician at Navajo Generating Station, Page, Ariz. His interests are photography, gardening, cooking competitions, state fair home canning, for which he took grand prize, and taxidermy.
They have served in many capacities as members of the LDS Church.
They reside at Country Pines Retirement Community, where she works part time in the office. They enjoy spending time with their 39 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and community members.
