Roy and Darlene Cochran of Roy celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a cruise to Spain, the Canary Islands and the Caribbean Islands. They also plan to commemorate the occasion in July when all the family can attend.
They were married on April 19, 1963, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple. They lived in Salt Lake City and moved to Roy in 1967, where they raised their family.
He was born July 1, 1941, to Charles and Loraine Cochran in Heber City. He worked as a printer for many years, retiring from the Ogden Standard-Examiner in 2006 after 40 years. In his leisure time, he enjoys taking his dog for walks and reading books on LDS church history.
She was born Nov. 11, 1942, to Georgie Mae and Wayne Stewart in Salt Lake City. She worked for the Internal Revenue Service, Flameco and Utah Independent Living Center as a counselor. She is now retired. She enjoys sewing, quilting and doing family genealogy.
High school sweethearts, they are graduates of Utah Schools for the Deaf and Blind. Both are active in the Ogden Valley LDS Branch, where they have served in many callings. They served a church service mission at the Family History Library.
Their children are Darwin and Wendy Cochran, Sandra and Jeff Harrington, Don and Tiffany Cochran, and Lisa and Kevin Graves. They have 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
