FARMINGTON -- A couple of roadways leading up Farmington Canyon have been opened, after being closed for almost two years.
A news release from the Forest Service states that the Forest Service Road in the canyon is open to the intersection with the Francis Peak Road and Skyline Drive. Because of snow and wet conditions, access beyond that intersection is expected to be limited until after June 1, weather permitting, according to the release.
Farmington Canyon Road was closed because of flood damage in spring 2011. Flood repair work was completed in early December 2012, and the road has been open for winter recreation use.
The release stresses the need for recreation users to recognize that wet and muddy conditions can cause resource damage. Motor vehicle user maps are available at http://www.fs.usda.gov/uwcnf.
