PROVO -- Provo police are investigating the torture of several cats over the past month.
The Humane Society of Utah is offering a $3,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a suspect in the animal cruelty case.
Lt. Matt Siufanua told The (Provo) Daily Herald the first incident about a month ago involved four cats that had been bound with tape, strangled with rope or wire and burned. A few of the animals had been laid on the railroad tracks to be decapitated or cut in half.
Siufanua says two more dead cats recently turned up in the same area. He says investigators think someone is trapping the animals.
At least one of the cats was someone's pet. It's not clear if the others were strays or had homes.
