Richard A. Johnson of Clearfield celebrated his 80th birthday with a family dinner at the Maddox Ranch House Restaurant.
He was born on April 25, 1933, in Werner N.D., to Clifford and Iola Dancer Johnson. He graduated from Davis High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War aboard the destroyer USS Samuel N. Moore.
On Sept. 11, 1953, he married Gloria Covey in Ogden. Their vows were later solemnized on Feb. 11, 1982, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Ogden Temple.
In 1988, he retired from Hill Air Force Base with 38 years of service.
He served an LDS mission with his wife in Raleigh, N.C. He has also served in many church callings.
Their children and spouses are Debra and Gilbert Leonard, Steve and Ginger Johnson, and Julie and Kelvin Swander. They have 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.STORY:201304290044Richard Johnson/Announcements/2013/04/29/Richard-Johnson.html-1
