Ed and Ruth Hoggan will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. Family and friends may attend an open house in their honor from 2 to 4 p.m. on May 4 at the LDS church, 231 E. 300 North, Clearfield.
They were married May 5, 1953, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints St. George Temple.
He was born March 15, 1929, in the old Dee Hospital in Ogden, where he grew up. He is a 1947 Ogden High School graduate. After serving an LDS mission in Northern California, he attended Weber State College. He then served in the U.S. Army in counterintelligence during the Korean War. He enjoyed a career working for Met Life Insurance for 38 years. He is an oil paint artist and enjoys music.
She was born June 19, 1934, in the Circleville family home. She grew up in Beaver and is a 1952 Beaver High School graduate. She had the privilege and enjoyment of being a stay-at-home mom. She enjoys cooking, entertaining and sharing her memorized collection of poems.
They enjoy fond memories of square dancing. The family also enjoyed camping, fishing, Dad's "Honor Club" trips to great places and visiting extended family members.
They continue to be active and have served their church in many stake and ward callings throughout the years.
They have enjoyed living their married life in Clearfield in the same house where they raised their family. Their children and spouses are Kerry and Barbara Hoggan, Alene and Phil Evans, Heidi and Jerry Pope, and Darin and Melody Hoggan. They enjoy their 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Both agree that life is very good, and they are happy.
