Utah charter school evacuated after suspicious package found

SPANISH FORK -- A Utah charter school is being evacuated as police recover a suspicious package by robot.

Police say a principal of American Leadership Academy in Spanish Fork called to report the package around 9:30 a.m. Monday.

Spanish Fork police Lt. Matt Johnson says officials are using a robot to retrieve a black backpack wrapped in duct tape that was left outside the school.

Police have no suspects.Students, teachers and staffers gathered on a football field.

About 1,600 students attend the K-12 school.
