SALT LAKE CITY -- A gun raffle for a girl's community rugby team is provoking a backlash.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports that educators in St. George are calling the raffle foolish and in poor taste.
Snow Canyon Principal Warren Brooks says the club team is loosely affiliated with the school.
The Snow Canyon Lady Warriors consists of girls from Snow Canyon High and Snow Canyon Middle School.
The raffle was held off school property last weekend. It involved a shotgun and a rifle made by Westfield, Mass-based Savage Arms.
Another gun raffle for the Uintah Ute Hockey Team raised $30,000 earlier this month.
