PLAIN CITY -- The Region 1 boys soccer standings are in a serious state of flux.

Fremont knocked off league leader Weber 2-1 on Thursday afternoon, as the top four teams are now within a game of each other with just a couple of matches left.

"We had a lot of energy in the second half," Fremont coach Fred Smith said. "Weber possessed the ball a lot early, but we were better in the second half. The defense was so strong overall for us."

Jaden Bybee put the Warriors ahead in the final moments of the first half, but Fremont answered just minutes into the second half. Jace Iverson crossed to the back post where Robbie Hales headed it home.

With 10 minutes to play, Jordan Preator took control of the ball on a hustle play and turned and knuckled it past the Weber keeper for the game-winners.

"They pressed us right to the end," Smith said. "We changed our formation at halftime, and Hales and the rest of the defense did a great job."

* LAYTON 1, SYRACUSE 0: At Syracuse, the Lancers stayed in the win column with a nail-biting win over the Titans.

Davis Walker scored in the second half for Layton. Scott Sweeten picked up the shutout in goal.
