Roy Jr. "Dick" and Carolyn Poll Child of West Haven will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. A family dinner party was held in their honor on May 4.
They were married on May 10, 1963, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple.
He was born in Roy and attended Ogden High School. He worked at an early age, helping his father with plow jobs. After spending time working on a ranch in Montana, he joined relatives in the car business. He recently retired from his own dealership Dick Child's Auto Sales. He enjoys animals, especially his dogs and horses. He can often be found visiting with longtime friends at horse and farm auctions.
She was born in South Weber and attended Davis High School. She worked as a secretary at Hill Air Force Base before her first children were born. She returned to the workforce as an administrative assistant for the federal government, retiring from the Clearfield Federal Depot. She played softball for the Utah Shamrocks. She enjoys reading, traveling and cheering for her grandchildren at their sporting events. Most of all, they enjoy spending time with their family.
Active members of the LDS Church, their callings include bishopric, high priests group, stake clerk, and president for stake Relief Society, Young Women's and Relief Society, among others.
Their children and spouses are Jeff and Leisa Child, Lori and Darrell White, Jodi and Brad Merrill, Ryan and Kendra Child, and Lindsay and Adam Nelson. They have 16 grandchildren.
