PLEASANT VIEW -- After a scintillating 100 minutes of soccer on Tuesday afternoon, the Warriors and Lancers had impressed their coaches and the fans, the but scoreboard didn't even move.
Region 1 co-leaders Layton and Weber battled to a 0-0 tie that extended to two overtimes. With one match to go for both teams, a co-championship looks like a real possibility.
"Both teams were up for this game," Weber coach Jan Swift said. "We both had great scoring opportunities but the keepers knocked them down."
Weber's Codey Albretsen and Layton's Scott Sweeten each made key saves to preserve the shutouts.
Swift was not impressed with his team's intensity in a pair of losses last week, but he was more than satisfied with the effort on Tuesday.
"They turned the corner today," he said.
If both teams win Thursday, Weber would enter state play as the No. 1 seed by virtue of their win at Layton earlier in the season.
