While I was getting my car fixed, I decided that I would wheel on down the sidewalk to go to a business complex not far away. By the time I got to where I was going, I was all shaken up. What a headache it was! It was not even fun to do. Being in a wheelchair, power or manual, it makes no difference, we are not safe.
The sidewalks are not safe for people with disabilities because so many cracks, bumps, and holes.
I guess the only thing to do is organize a protest for people in wheelchairs, so the city and businesses will make the sidewalks safe for us in wheelchairs.
This brings up the next issue. I was driving down the street when I saw an man in a power wheelchair going down the road; yes, the road. This is not safe for us in wheelchairs, but again the sidewalks are not safe for us either. What a dilemma. We are safe either way. We need help.
