MORGAN -- Firefighters on Wednesday extinguished a house fire that injured one resident and destroyed the garage of the home.

Morgan Fire Department Chief Dave Rich said crews arrived at the house, at 1270 W. Island Road, around 4:30 p.m. and found the garage in flames. Crews put out the fire in about 45 minutes.

A man who lives in the house burned his hand and leg during the blaze and was transported to the hospital, Rich said. Details about the man's injuries were not known.

Firefighters stopped the fire from spreading to the rest of the house, Rich said, though a pickup truck and a four-wheeler were destroyed. There was significant smoke damage to the home.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
