Funding for the scholarships is provided by the Stewart Education Foundation, Robert and Marcia Harris and the Rotary Club of Ogden Foundation. Four scholarships are for Weber State University, and another is for any college of the student's choice.

The winners were chosen from applicants in Weber and Ogden district schools, and private and charter schools in the area. The average number of service hours accumulated over the winners' high school careers is 555, said Cal Welling, the Service Above Self Scholarship chairman.
