KAYSVILLE -- The Darts won't be going to the state 5-A soccer playoffs.
Northridge High dispatched the perennial soccer power with a convincing 2-1 victory over Davis on Friday afternoon on Davis' field. The teams tied for the final state 5-A playoff spot from a balanced and tough Region 1. It will be the Knights' first state appearance in boys soccer since 2004.
"I knew if our defense played the way it can, we'd have a chance," Northridge coach Braden Mitchell said.
Davis scored in the first minute of action.
Steve Cannavina and Landon Farnsworth scored the two goals for the Knights, who will now play at Hunter on Tuesday in the 5-A tournament opener.
All the scoring occurred in the first half.
After the break, Zach Nielson made some key saves for the Knights, while Mitchell credited the back line of Noah Schiers, Zach Frye, Parker Freitag and Robert Crawford with taking care of business.
