Rotary conference in Ogden the 'biggest and best'

May 10 2013 - 5:13pm

Editor,

The Rotary Club of Ogden would like to thank the individuals and businesses that supported the Rotary District 5420 Conference held at the Ogden Eccles Conference Center May 3-5. The statewide conference was a huge success and the response from Rotary members from all over the state of Utah was that this was the biggest and best Rotary conference that they have attended in years.

They loved the venue at the Ogden Eccles Conference Center and felt that the service provided by the Eccles Conference Center staff was exceptional. They were also impressed that so many local businesses and individuals helped sponsor this event and that there were many special touches to make the stay enjoyable. The Friday night art stroll was fun and they enjoyed the many restaurant options in the downtown business district.

The Saturday service activity brought the conference attendees to the Ogden River Parkway for a group clean-up service project and they were amazed how this area has transformed. Many had mentioned that htis was their first time back to Ogden in many years and they were surprised at all the many improvements that have occurred over the last ten years.

Ogden city mayor, Mike Cladwell, CVB president, Sara Toliver, WSU president, Chuck Wright and Chamber of Commerce president Dave Hardman did an excellent job in welcoming all of our Rotary visitors. They showcased all the improvements that have occurred and the new energy that is in our beautiful community.

The event concluded with an inspiring and thought-provoking peace forum and interfaith service that was held in the Historic Perry's Egyptian Theatre on Sunday. The topic of peace was motivational and created a call to action by visiting: www.3ClickstoPeace.org.

Those attending marveled at the beauty of the theater facility and they left for home with a new perspective on peace and their roles in bringing peace to their spheres of influence.
