Dorothy May Cox of South Ogden recently celebrated her 90th birthday with her children in St. George. As a further tribute, her family surprised her with a birthday party at the Maddox Ranch House Restaurant in Perry.
She is a lifelong resident of Ogden. She was born on May 4, 1923, in Ogden to Ben O. and Pearl Hurst. She attended Ogden schools and is a 1941 Ogden High School graduate.
She married Keith C. Cox on Nov. 25, 1942, in Salt Lake City. Their vows were solemnized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple on Feb. 15, 1964. He died on April 30, 2008.
She worked for American Can Co., J.C. Penney, and retired from ZCMI in Ogden. After her retirement, she and Keith enjoyed being snowbirds, traveling south to warmer climates during the cold winters. They enjoyed traveling and made lifelong friends with the Good Sam Club. She has remained active with the ladies of the railroad auxiliary club and her condo association. Besides traveling, she has enjoyed doing ceramics and spending time with her family.
She is an active member of the Pleasant Valley LDS 5th Ward. She and Keith were temple workers for many years. She remains active and continues to serve in the Bountiful Temple.
She and Keith had four sons: (Ron deceased) and Carol Cox, Ohio; Darrell and DeeAnne Cox, Layton; Bruce and Sheryl Cox, South Ogden; and Brent and Vicki Cox, South Ogden. She has 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
