Ogden resident celebrates
Jacob Uhrich celebrated his 100th birthday this week with his friends and family. He was honored at a family dinner on his birthday, and will be further honored by his church family with a celebration following the morning worship service today.
Since coming to Ogden in 1960, he has been an active member of the First Baptist Church. His family and friends say he is truly an inspiration to church members as he continues to usher and serve communion each Sunday. In 2010, he was selected by the American Baptist Men to receive the 2009 Man of the Year Award.
Born on May 10, 1913, a native of Nebraska, he is the last survivor of 10 children. He married Dorothy Allen on Aug. 10, 1940, in Pocatello, Idaho. They were married for 67 years before her death on Sept. 13, 2007.
His daughter and her spouse are Joan and Darvin Goldben, Cross Plains, Wis. He also has two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
