FARMINGTON -- State park officers and local law enforcement agencies spent an hour Wednesday searching for a man who evaded officers on Firebreak Road.

State Park Ranger Lt. Eric Stucki said the chase started about 3 p.m. when a park ranger attempted to pull over Jacob Pace, 23, of Farmington, for not having registration on the off-road motorcycle Pace was riding on Firebreak Road. Instead, Pace kept going. Speeds in the chase didn't get very high because the road is very rough and not paved.

About five minutes after the chase on the motorcycle began, Pace ditched the bike, along with a bag he was carrying, Stucki said. A loaded gun was later found in the bag.

Officers from Farmington, Centerville and Davis County Sheriff's Office helped search for the man and found him around 4 p.m. near the spot where the chase began, Stucki said.

Pace's motivation for fleeing was unclear. The investigation is ongoing.
