WASHINGTON TERRACE -- A 72-year-old man in a wheelchair was reportedly OK Friday evening after getting hit by a car while crossing the street.
Around 10 p.m., a Utah Transit Authority bus was letting off passengers near 5350 S. Ridgeline Drive. The driver of the bus got out to help stop traffic for passengers to cross the road, but a car going east on Ridgeline Drive didn't stop and hit the 72-year-old man, knocking him from his motorized wheelchair, said Weber County Sheriff's Sgt. Wayne Smith.
The man was taken to the hospital, where reports indicated he was not hurt seriously, Smith said.
Heavy rain at the time of the accident, limiting visibility, could have played a role in the crash, Smith said.
Smith was unsure if the driver of the car that hit the man would be cited.
