Heading west to its home away from home, Real Salt Lake looks to close out its current three-match road trip on a high note.
The Claret-and-Cobalt will take on Chivas USA tonight at 8:30 p.m. at the Home Depot Center, with the match to be televised live on CW30.
Salt Lake absolutely owned the pitch at the Home Depot Center, which is on the campus of Cal State-Dominguez Hills in Carson, Calif., last season going 4-0-0 against Chivas and its co-tenants, the Los Angeles Galaxy. RSL defeated Chivas 3-0 and 4-1 in the teams' two HDC meetings, along with RSL collecting 3-1 and 2-1 wins over the Galaxy at the suburban Los Angeles facility.
Real comes into the match after a disheartening last-gasp 3-2 setback to Montreal last weekend, but the Utah side has captured two of its last three matches overall.
Chivas (3-5-2) has been in a freefall since capturing a 2-1 win over Vancouver on March 30. The Goats are currently on a six-match winless skid (0-4-2), and have been outscored 11-2 and been shutout four times during that streak.
RSL beat Chivas 1-0 at Rio Tinto Stadium on April 30, with midfielder Javier Morales scoring the match-winner in the second half. Real goalkeeper Nick Rimando, who was recently called up to the U.S. Men's National Team, saved a first-half penalty kick in that match.
Salt Lake is 10-10-4 against its 2005 expansion partner in regular season play, and has dominated the series since upending Chivas from the 2008 MLS Cup playoffs. The Utah side is 7-2-1 in MLS play against the Californians since that series.
Real could get a huge boost in its attacking game tonight, with both Alvaro Saborio and Robbie Findley being upgraded to questionable after missing the team's last four matches.
