EVANSTON, Wyo. -- A 43-year-old Evanston man is dead after a high-speed chase and shootout with authorities in southwestern Wyoming.
Police say Naim "Keith" Labaki fired a shot in front of his Evanston home before he went to a nearby sporting goods store and demanded an additional weapon shortly after 2 p.m. Saturday. Labaki fled after employees refused his demands, but not before he fired a shot into the store.
The Casper Star-Tribune reports a high-speed chase that followed ended when the man crashed into an unmarked police car and pointed a rifle at authorities from inside his vehicle.
An Evanston police officer and a Uinta County Sheriff's deputy responded by shooting Labaki, who died at a hospital.
The officer and deputy have been put on paid administrative leave during the investigation.
