OGDEN -- Citizens in Ogden and Farr West were treated to firework shows Friday and Saturday night from a company hoping to dazzle night skies in the area for years to come.
Lauren Collar, manager of Winco Fireworks, at 710 W. Amidan Drive, in the Business Depot of Ogden, said the Kansas City-based company expanded to Ogden in March. The firework shows, which were held at the company's location, were put on to show off the company's vast array of fireworks to customers.
"I think everyone was excited to be here," Collar said. "It's fun to put on shows like this."
The family-owned and operated business is the exclusive North American distributor of Black Cat fireworks, Collar said. All around the country, Winco supplies the fireworks stands and tents that dot communities in the summer.
One of the fun things about working with fireworks is impacting the local community, Collar said.
"We support local businesses," Collar said. "Most of our customers sell fireworks as additional income. This isn't their nine-to-five job. It's also great to see how fireworks bring families together for celebrations."
Collar said she's grown up in the family business and selling fireworks is in her blood. That being the case, this time of year is especially exciting for her. As the weather warms and fireworks season gets closer, the anticipation increases.
"We're gearing up for it," Collar said. "We're excited when spring hits because we know summer is right around the corner."
