Illene Stanfield Pett of Layton will celebrate her 80th birthday. Family and friends may attend an open house in her honor from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, at 750 E. 700 South in Layton. Friends are welcome to bring a paragraph of memories or fun times with her or e-mail to email@example.com.
She was born on May 28, 1933, in Idaho to Rulon and Ruby Stanfield. She was raised in Ogden with sisters Kay Packard, Nancy Farrell Nickell, Susan Wildwood, Barbara Swaner and Sheri Dee. She was married in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple to Boyd G. Pett.
Their children and spouses are David Pett, Brian Pett, Tamara Pett, Boyd and Wendy Pett, Kathleen and Brian Heckel, Kristine and David Rudolph, Gregory Pett, Stephen Pett and Lisa Pett. They have 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She graduated from Weber State College and Brigham Young University. An active member of the LDS Church, she served in Cub Scouts, Primary, Young Women, and stake and ward Relief Society. A member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, she also served as captain and in other positions, including 10 years on the company board.
She worked as a secretary, substitute school teacher and 24 years as a travel agent. She visited 49 states and 52 countries.
