SALT LAKE CITY -- The Utah Highway Patrol is investigating a three-vehicle crash on I-215 that claimed the life of a 54-year-old man.
Patrol Lt. Ed Michaud says the man was traveling east at 80-90 mph in a black Honda Accord when he rear ended a Nissan Altima about 5:30 p.m. Monday near the Redwood Road exit.
The Honda then crossed through the median and across the westbound lanes before it was struck by a white Jeep.
The 49-year-old driver of the Jeep was taken to Intermountain Medical Center with serious injuries.
Michaud tells the Deseret News they were lucky the wreck wasn't even more serious given that the Honda crossed all of the oncoming lanes.
He says troopers are investigating whether the victim was driving impaired. No names have been released.
