LOGAN-- The former treasurer for the Lions Club in Paradise has pleaded guilty to stealing money that was supposed to go towards an popular annual summer festival.
Cache County Sheriff Lt. Chad Jensen says 51-year-old Peggy McDonald of Paradise stole $16,000 from the organization over a period of about four years dating to June 2009.
She pleaded guilty to second-degree felony theft last week and now faces between one to 15 years in prison.
The Lions Club is the lead organizer of the town's Trout and Berry Days.
McDonald is scheduled to appear in court again on June 25 for a pre-trial conference.
Her lawyer, Shannon Demler, told The (Logan) Herald Journal he thinks they are close to reaching a resolution in the case that will include restitution payments.
