WEST VALLEY CITY -- The wife of a Utah man who was shot by police says he was suicidal when he entered the West Valley City police station and pointed a gun at an officer and a clerk.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports (http://tinyurl.com/ofpkoos) James Kammeyer's wife told detectives her husband went to the West Valley City police department with an unloaded handgun last month because he wanted "someone to kill him because he didn't have the guts to do it himself."
Police shot Kammeyer twice in the arm but he survived. He's charged with threat of terrorism, aggravated assault and illegal possession of a firearm.
According to search warrants made public Wednesday, his wife told police he twice before had tried to kill himself, most recently in December by slitting his wrists.
