PROVO -- Utah County sheriff's deputies are investigating the death of a man who fell more than 150 feet near Bridal Veil Falls in Provo Canyon.
Sheriff's Sgt. Spencer Cannon tells The (Provo) Daily Herald witnesses saw the man fall just after 8 p.m. Wednesday.
He says they estimated he fell more than 200 feet. Rescuers' estimated it was more like 160-180 feet. They're not sure if he had hiked to the top from Bridal Veil Falls or from a different trail.
Cannon says they've been checking cars in the parking lot to see if they can identify the victim but they still don't yet know who he is and don't yet have a handle on the circumstances that led to his death.
