The Bees definitely keep busy.
The Salt Lake Bees hosted Prevention Dimensions Day on Tuesday at Spring Mobile Ballpark. In conjunction with the Utah Office of Education, the Bees welcomed more than 11,000 fifth and sixth-graders to the 10th annual event which promotes drug and alcohol prevention.
Last Saturday, the Bees hosted Military Appreciation Night. The 419th Fighter Wing Anthem Choir from Hill Air Force Base performed the national anthem and sang "God Bless America" during the seventh-inning stretch.
A special military-themed fireworks show capped the game.
Recently, Minor League Baseball announced that the Bees ranked in the Top 25 in 2012 licensed merchandise sales.
The 2013 Readers' Open Golf Tournament is set for Sept. 13 at Remuda Golf Course. The scramble, a fundraiser for the Standard-Examiner's Newspaper in Education program, fills up fast.

CrossFit, one of those new sports that is growing by leaps and bounds, will stage its CrossFit Games Southwest Regional competition May 31 to June 2 at the Utah Olympic Oval. Action runs from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day.
CrossFit combines a variety of skills to determine an overall physical capacity level.

Big Sky honors
The Portland State women and Montana State men have won the 2012-13 Big Sky Conference All-Sports trophies.
Points are awarded based on regular-season standings in each sport. Later this summer, the league will announce the winner of the 2012-13 Presidents' Cup, which is a combination of athletic and academic success. Northern Arizona finished the 2012-13 season with the most overall sports points with 115.5. Weber State is fifth.
BYU volleyball players Kathryn LeCheminant (Layton) and outside hitter Kimberly Dahl, along with Utah standouts Morgan Odale and Chelsey Schofield, were selected for the U.S. Women's National Volleyball Senior A2 Program, USA Volleyball announced. ...

The roster included Quinn Boyer (Bonneville) Kort Christoffersen (Weber), Kody Christoffersen (Weber), Bubba Blau (Roy), and Mitch Manning (Davis). Another Dixie athlete, golfer Haley Dunn (Layton) won the Pacific West Conference championship in April then finished 17th at NCAA DII Women's Golf Super Region 4 tournament. ...
